just got back from a BUSY trip to NYC. while i was there, i spent 3 days working on a feature-length documentray entitled What's On Your Plate. the film follows two girls of color--sadie and safiya--as they explore their place in the food chain. i had been an adviser to the film, and the producers asked me to appear in it and make a meal with sadie, safiya, and two of their friends--nhumi and caleb. before we cooked, i gave them grub t-shirts to be used as their aprons. we had a ball.
